Nothing would stop my son Ryan from being out on the pond on Hockey Day in MN with his hockey buds, his mom and people he did not know, then go practice for an hour and a half.. The kids played pick up hockey all day long.. It was awesome to see the varying of their ages and the willingness to all play together for the love of Hockey.. made me smile

Keith and I watched this movie on MLK day. Two of my children had school so we watched it after Keith dropped them off. I can say this, I already read the book and loved it.. The movie touched my inner soul so deep, it was such a powerful movie that moved me deeply.. wondering how people can be so ignorant? How color was not an issue in peoples minds.. I loved it!

I know the challenge is a photo a day, but hey i took a lot yesterday. Yesterday was wear white for Jack and all three of my children wore white and supported Jack. He is in our thoughts and hearts and prayers..
I was taking Ryan to get a sweatshirt at the mall and and the sunset was gorgeous! All who know me know i love sunsets and sunrises. Well I pulled over into flying cloud field and opened my sunroof and took a ton of photos with my phone camera. I explained to Ryan I HAVE IT, i will be on a reality show and it will be titled The Sunset Chaser~ it will chronicle me and my love for sunsets and also look at my lovely boys~ he laughed. I thought hey why not?? They have reality shows about such silly things.. which i do not watch..

Funny how you do not need to know people to have your life deeply moved in a way that it is heartwrenching and powerful.. I am talking of Jack Jablonski, the hockey player paralyzed by a hit and is having surgery today.. I was up early, the house was quiet,Jonny was gone already and i was reading his journal update from his parents and saw through a reflection the beauty outside.. I thought God is present and with this family and entire hockey community. I am AMAZED at the guestbook entries and visit to his page on caringbridge. God be with him and his brother and his parents. As my dear friend Julianne said, She thinks his guardian angel is his brother. Godspeed..

The last three days here in Minnesota have showcased serious beauty at the end of the day with the gorgeous sunsets. I have not blogged much but thought theses worthy to share.. Something about sunsets makes me appreciate my life and the people in it, not the things so much at all. I am sure it gets me thinking the real reason I am here..

This weekend will be a weekend spent with our hockey family, we spent last weekend with them as well. We have become a tight knit group, the kids are great and the parents are awesome! We had a bit of drama on our team but I believe the situation will make the team that much stronger..
The setting~ Christmas Lake
The participants~ 25 or so adults and a ton of kids. It was a beautiful night. The landscape of our team may change and some will move on but the times we have spent together have been the best.

My middle child, turns 11 tomorrow and since we do not have any family here in MN, the next best thing is spending it with these same adults and same ton of kids this weekend! I will leave you with pictures.

Fishing Trip

Hi all, well summer is quickly going by as is my whole life;). I decided to take the boys fishing all except my oldest because we did not have enough poles. So Ryan, Alex and Bennie, Reeree's friend went out to Victoria to see if we could catch some fish. Off we went and yes this mom rips the worms in half and takes the fish off the hooks and does all that grubby, grody stuff. The boys had a blast and we are planning our next trip to see what we can catch. I love to fish, Keith is not a huge fisherman so I know who will be taking them out to fish. Time is a flying and I need to capture more of my life. I have been thinking recently about going back to film instead of digital. The one good thing for me with film was I was forced to have all my images printed. Now with technology you can pick and choose. What are your thoughts on this?? Is film going to go permanently into the past?? I will leave you with pictures from that day.

Well since summer finally is upon us, those of us who are Minnesotans know what I am talking about. Anyone who knows me knows fall and winter are my seasons! Well, I always make the best of summer and have been enjoying it for the most parts except when the weather gets above 90.... The latest thing we have been doing in the evening is taking Jackson, our big black lab to Lake Riley. He has a blast and loves the water. Alex, my little guy loves going with me. Here are a few photos from our outings. We have such a great time. Although I only took my hand held camera I am always saying I need to take more pictures here of late. So in my mind phone, hand held camera or my good camera really does it matter?? NO!!!! I capture the memories and that is what is important!

I had the pleasure of photographing brothers~ Brothers that you could tell had a special relationship with each other as well as their mother. As they are older~ 24,21 and just 18 they were itching to go off in their different directions. They have been apart for awhile with the oldest living out of town. They poked and prodded at each other and Michelle cracked me up trying to contain them. I told her our goal was just to get one good one of the three and one of her and her boys, she agreed.

The session left me feeling a bit happier, grateful and a reminder to enjoy each stage in your childrens lives because it goes quick. Here are just a couple~

Looking Forward/Looking Back

As another school year comes to a close I look back with gratefulness that my boys were blessed with the teachers that they had. They were all the best! I also look back with amazement how fast the year went by and how much my boys have grown, physically and emotionally. They are great boys who make me happy. Anyone who knows me knows I get so emotional at this time of year(well when don't I get emotional)with happy and sad feelings. These will fade after some time.

The looking forward part is no schedules, homework, or early am risings especially for that older child of mine, who loves to sleep! I also look forward to memories made, pictures snapped, vacation, cozy times together, beach time, deck time and just enjoying one another. A new routine will be established and I fully plan on seizing the summer and my boys.

I cannot believe that it is almost February already, seriously where does the time go?? All is well at the Lesko Household, busy still with hockey and schoolwork.. We had a scare with our beloved dog Jackie back at Christmas time and all worked out, after surgery and bowel resection etc. ahhhh it was a long road but we all nursed him back to health. Our house was in an uproar over that and it was right before Christmas. I am doing the 365 day photo assignment and you can follow me on facebook, I decided to do it late so I am on day 7 today. I tried it last year and I could not keep up!!! UGH it was disappointing to me. A certain someone who reads my blog (does this person remember who they are????) said it would be super hard and boy they were right!!! I am at it once again and have not played catch up or had to do multiple days at a time. Anyone else want to do it with me?? It is not too late in my book! I need to start posting more and taking more pictures for that matter.

Part One of The Photo Shoot

The skies were turning on me quickly, clothes were ironed, plan was made and I kept looking at the sky and thinking hmmm was it supposed to rain? Picked kids up, raced home, they brushed teeth, got ready and we dashed out the door with the dog. Well we got to the place, close by thankfully and guess who forgot the memory card?? YES, you guessed the dog did. Got in car, raced home, dropped dog off since he did that and raced back to take pictures. For heavens sake the daylight was slipping away from me.
We will have to go back but here are from that day. One good thing that came out of it I saw my boys in something other than hockey pants or athletic pants. I may have even transformed one into wearing jeans more than not. They were hilarious, came up with their own ideas and I cannot wait to do it all again.

My Firstborn

Today I will talk about my beautiful firstborn son who is amazingly smart, much smarter than his Mama. Who will help him if he needs help in Math? Not me! Something hit me on the head like a ton of bricks today. He is not the most organized kid but like I said smart, oh so smart. He is the oldest, I was the youngest. I think birth order does frame/shape who you are. My oldest sister when diagnosed with a brain tumor said I am glad it was me and not you, well I now know why she said that she is the firstborn, the protector the big sister!

Well back to Jonny, he is a sweet, sensitive, athletic, smart child. I think kids have too much pressure on them these days, when is enough enough? My point of this post is that he really does not posses all the qualites of a firstborn child, some yes but who cares??? I have to tell him Jonny do this, go get dressed do you have this, etc. Well today when I knocked on his bedroom door and there he stood with his uniform on and his belt on and his hair styled and teeth brushed I almost cried. You may think is this woman stable??

Yes, I am but something went off in my brain that made me think we are all wired different, should not be put into boxes or labeled and I thought hmmmm it must be tough being the oldest like I said since I was the baby and we all know how babies are treated=) Just kidding.

Sometimes we need to relax about things that just do not matter, more homework, more practices, more this and that. Projects are bigger, a lot is expected of our kids these days. It is much different than when we were children. I am not saying we do or should not have high expectations for our children what I am saying is let them be children and enjoy their childhood. Jonny made me look at him and smile and be thankful for my children today.

State Fair/First Day of School

The Last few days of summer vacation were filled with boys going places, State Fair and chilly weather. Just how I like it!! The kids enjoyed their vacation and as usual I feel time is slipping away quicker than I would like. Just as the craziness is starting, I did their sports schedule today on the calendar and with three in soccer and three in hockey it is crazy! I have vowed to slow down, enjoy my children and Keith and really take the time for what matters most. This is where the next phase of my plan is coming in. I will start journaling everyday. I really wish I would have done this from the get go more consistently. I will be 40 this year actually in a few weeks. I do not have a problem getting older, I however think it contibutes to my sappiness and deep thinking lately. Nothing is more important than friends and family. My job as a mother is to nurture, love and prepare my children to live a productive, meaningful life. Most important to me is that my boys posses compassion, love, sympathy and respect for people, the earth and themselves. Also, to have a bonding relationship with God. I feel they are off to a great start and I can only look at them with love. I used to tell them when they were little how RED their little hearts were and I can honestly say they are still RED

I returned from a trip on Saturday with my family from Holland MI, one of the most magical places on Earth for us. We were joined by both my sisters and her kids and my parents. This is one of the many, many pictures I took of my dear friend Jill's son Des who by the way was a great sport with me! I took these on Wednesday and if you are local know it rained and then got nice in the evening time. Well, where we were it was kind of cloudy and fog had settled on the road. My intention was not to take pictures in the road but something was calling me to the road. Some of my favorite shots of Des are him in this location. I have so many pictures I want to share of my session with Des but I have to pare them down. He is easy on the eyes so this is not going to be an easy task. I need to get better at blogging as well. Kids are keeping me busy and time is flying by. It is always good to slow down and enjoy life and the little things.

Ree after climbing in his bed after an adventure with his great friend, K'Andre and his mom. He truly had a blast and loved it!!! He was glad to crawl into his bed as well tonight. I missed him and glad he had fun and returned happy and safe!!!

Day 360

This photo was taken last night before we headed out to the fireworks in Chanhassen, we were just going to drive and watch them from the car. We did get invited to a party, fireworks included but we were in the mode of relaxing at our house. So instead we headed out at 930 and found our spot across the highway and thought ohhhh lets get out!!!! Bad idea, the mosquitos are so bad here it was ridiculous. Thank Goodness they only lasted for twenty minutes. Late posting again, I have to get better!!

Day 361- Tables Were Turned Today

Well photo 361 was a combination of me taking some of Alex Hula Hooping which I still need to download. It was extremely HOT here in Minny with temperatures over 90, if you know me this is soooooo not my weather. Alex(and I) took hold of my camera and this is what we ended up with

Then I ended my evening with Terri, my dear friend who dang I did not take a picture of tonight, tomorrow girlfriend. She is beautiful!!! The boys minus one(let's not talk about that right now) went to the Chanhassen Festival. I am looking forward to fireworks and a good Fourth of July, Let Freedom Ring.

Day 362-Saying Goodbye

Well one of my babies left for three nights and I was so torn what to do, he wanted to go sooo bad, who he went with helped a ton, the mom and son are wonderful, responsible, over protective people =))

I cannot wait until Monday.

Day 363- Lake Ann

Well the afternoon and evening was spent at Lake Ann with dear, dear friends we have met through St. Hubert School. I will post more tomorrow but with keeping up with my picture a day I had to get my post in tonight.

Here it is and I can honestly say this evening ranked as being one of the best evenings I have had since I have lived here, that being said one of thee BEST evenings we have had in the past ten years. It was the company, parents, boys and a couple little beautiful girls as well.

Day 364 No shortage of photos for the day

Today was a day spent in the sun, summer sun and it was a great day. Took my boys to see the Twins/Tiger game at Target Field, it was their first time to the new stadium and they loved it!!! It was a beautiful day, hot in the sun that is for sure. We even got a ball thrown to us by Miguel Cabrera which was a highlight!!!
Then they spent the evening at lacrosse which they won 5-4, they made it closer than need be.
Came home ate half a huge watermelon, two pizzas and are now watching a movie. To be 7,9 and 11again ahhh what a joy!!! Exactly how it should be

Good Sports

As usual, my children were victims of my photography passion and man are they ever good sports!!!!

My two oldest just got haircuts and if you know me or them well you know the oldest one realllly got a haircut!!!! I think he looks handsome, however it frightens me I sometimes do not recognize him like I did today on the lacrosse field.

Any feedback positive or negative is appreciated!!!! God blessed us with a beautiful day today so I truly took advantage of it!

Well after a very steamy,windy unsettling day here in Minnesota this is what God presented us with last evening. One of thee most beautiful skies I have ever seen. These photos are not photoshopped/lightroomed etc. Just straight out of the camera.

On Saturday I managed to squeeze in a wonderful Photo Walk with fellow photographers from the Twin Cities area. It was a day filled with three different sports, a birthday party and a night playing Bingo. It started off raining and I debated going, I am so glad I went.
I will blog more about it later but WOW, I was so impressed with the kind souls and the willingness to help each other out. I really learned a lot. I walked away another kick start into photography. I met some really neat people.

Beautiful Day and My New Favorite Song

Beautiful Day outside!!!! My new favorite song is the one you are hearing right now, compliments of my kiddos, they keep me up to date on what I should be listening to. If I did not have them I would be stuck in the 40's and 50's, that is a post all on its own for another day. Well the start of March Madness today, Go Spartans. Yesterday my motivation was high, I accomplished a ton of things. Today, my goal is to work on my photography. I am thinking of signing up for a writing class and a photography class at Minnetonka Center for the Arts. I know with the temps forcasted to be in the 60's is short lived since i saw the high of 40 in a couple days. At least the sun is shining, my kids are healthy, happy and loved. A lot to be thankful for. I will post a few pictures, then off to be Creative!

Stange days/People

Well since I only have three followers and I doubt they read my blog let me start out by saying That all my life I have always attracted the BOLD or UNIQUE people to myself, not sure why. My mom says they flock to her too, I am starting to think this is a hereditary gene that she gave ME, only ME, my other two sisters do not have this gene. I was standing at the Redbox getting some movies, and this strange man starts asking me ohhh whats good, what do you recommend! Now I feel I am as nice as they come and gave him some ideas, he then started pointing to all these weird kid movies and remind you he was about 60 dyed big pomp-adore hair and LOTS of jewelry. I repeatedly said no,no, no. Well then he asked me do you live around here??? I then said uh no he said in the area? I thought wth is this guy, he is bold. Ask my husband I have had plenty of strange encounters with creeps. Needless to say I blew this guy off, he left me seriously feeling uneasy. I watched him while I stood in line to pay for groceries, he left the redbox(do not think he had any intention of getting movies. Talked on his cell phone walked around to the back of the grocery store, THEN LEFT!!!!! I had to make sure he did not follow me home, you know when your gut just tells you it ain't alright. So with this I ask is it me being paranoid or am I a weirdo magnet??? Another post I will revist this topic, believe me I have a lot of them.
I just think the nerve of some people. Am I a little on the distrusting side? Yes, but seriously you should have seen this guy. Thoughts please.

Rain has been ruling the radar over MN lately. Church with the boys, volunteering and a couple errands were on the agenda this am. I am making some delicious dinners, one brings me back to my youth. I will report on them in the future postings.

Longer Days

Well as the days get longer, we slowly move into another season. It has been mild here in MN. I always have mixed feelings when Winter ends, I know a lot of you will think I am strange. I will admit I LOVE Winter. I love the sports that coincide with Winter-hockey, ice skating, sledding, snowboarding. etc. I have also gained a new appreciation this Winter of walking in the woods and loving the snow crunch under my boots, see my big black dog run wild. His black body against the whiteness of the snow. It makes me happy. It is supposed to rain all week here, RAIN, I would much rather have snow. Do not count out another snowstorm here in MN.

It is mild outside in the Twin Cities, I am dogsitting and we went for a wonderful walk. Two labs on a walk, I did not know how it would be, but it actually went really well. I thought I might end up face first in the snowbank or on the sidewalk, however they were both very well behaved. Charlie(my cat) is now getting in the mix of things with Maggie, I hear him growling at her constantly, yesterday he was not to be seen except a couple of times mainly to eat. God forbid that cat not EAT!!! Hockey, of course is on tap for the weekend!!!

Fargo and Hockey and Photography

The Fargo Tournament was great, boys finished 10th out of 64 teams, but furthermore had a blast. They are such a fun team and we are such FUN parents! Fun was had by all. They had six games in three days and played their little hearts out. What a bummer the USA lost to Canada, figures Sydney gets the game winner. Hockey is winding down here and figuring out Spring Hockey with three little boys is a chore.

Photography I am hoping is going to take a front seat and I am still trying to figure out my camera and all the features it has to offer. Lenses, etc.

Another big hockey game looms on the not too distant horizon, Eden Prairie High School-they are down at the Target Center tonight, they had to move it from the previous venue because it was not big enough.

We will be rooting on the defending State Champs as they play Minnetonka, the team that has been ranked number one all year long. It is going to be a tough game!!! GO EAGLES

Hockey Rink

Well it is 1059 and the I have been at the rink or in my car all day. Having three boys in hockey is time consuming yet the joy it brings to three little boys is all worth it. It also helps to have good team parents who make time go by like that with chatting about life, funny how you look at people and you sometimes never know their REAL story, the pain they may be going through, the joy they may be experiencing. But when you really take the time out and listen everyone has a story to tell. Time goes by so fast, we are totally engrossed in the Olympics here at our house. I thought wow every four years they roll around, I did not even want to think four years from now and my sweet boys will be that much older. Something as simple as riding down the road, heat blasting because I could not warm up from being in a rink ALL day, chatting about the Olympics and realizing that four years from now I hope I am as close to my boys as I am now and that I need to enjoy and savor each day. Who would have thought the Olympics would make me think that???? I have had the feeling of being a proud USA citizen and loving these games- however I have always been very patriotic.

Hockey it is a big part of our lives, a part of our lives we enjoy. When I think of hockey I think of this guy

Time goes by, new stars emerge, old ones are always in our memories and life marches on.

You never know someone's story, maybe a smile a hug or an ear can change someone's life.

Winter Evenings

The boys just left to go to the neighbors and go play hockey, one day off of hockey and they want to play hockey you have to love it. Today has been a good day, cleaned and I mean cleaned cabinets, baseboards, floors etc. Also, it has been a day of reflection, walked in the woods-felt the calmness with Keith and Jackson and saw the beauty. I told him I like walking these woods better in the winter than in the summer- he liked both equally. Somthing about the snow, the trees a small narrow path and a big black dog running around free! Life is short, I have been sappy lately. Every time I go to church I cry. My religion, Catholicism started Lent yesterday. This is a time for reflection, sacrifice and growing closer to God and inner reflection. It has been a good day.
